Arrive in Corfu and proceed to your stylish 4* hotel. Take the rest of the day to explore the nearby delights of cosmopolitan Corfu Town, home to some of the island’s finest cuisine and captivating architecture.
After breakfast at the hotel, your yoga journey commences at 7.30am with a general introduction to Vinyasa to awaken the whole body. Today is for slipping into your preferred holiday rhythm. Then, embark on a wonderful excursion that will showcase Corfu’s finest features. Travel through fragrant orange and cypress groves to Achilleion’s lavish palace overlooking the sea (and dedicated to the hero Achilles); then linger at the beautiful bay of Palaiokastritsa to admire its Byzantine monastery and sublime views. Finally, head to mountainous Lakones before arriving at the northern end of Corfu where you’ll eat a memorable lunch in the historic old heritage village of Perithia. At 5.30pm your Kundalini tuition begins. The focus is on the First chakra, Mulandhara, which is linked to the adrenal gland and influences emotions surrounding safety and trust
Sculpt arms and create open flexible shoulders in this morning’s class. Lunch is at the hotel. You are free until the afternoon’s yoga workshop which is devoted to the Second chakra, Svadisthana, which corresponds to the genetic glands and organs. Exercises target emotional balance and relationships with the opposite sex.
Focus on upper back and neck, and learn healing postures to alleviate pain and tensions in this often-afflicted region. Afterwards, pleasure awaits on a half-day tour where you’ll sail in a traditional caique to famous Pontikonisi Island (weather permitting) and visit stately Mon Repos palace amid its green oasis. Finally, you’ll taste Corfu’s best wine varieties - such as Kakotrygis, Petrokoritho and Skopelitiko – and enjoy a buffet lunch at an acclaimed vineyard in fertile Ropa Valley. Sample also the estate’s delicious cheeses, olives, and olive oil products. This afternoon’s class comprises the Third chakra, Manipura, linked to the pancreas, liver and spleen. Exercises concentrate on helping to control Ego and its need to satisfy its desires.
Learn specific postures for your lower back to strengthen and safeguard this vulnerable area against pain. Lunch at the hotel and free day for relaxation or further sight-seeing. Your afternoon class features the Fourth chakra, Anahatha, (or heart centre). Postures involving this vital chakra release sorrow and encourage joy and bliss.
Open up tight hips and leg muscles with poses designed to ignite your inner-strength. Next, it’s time to prepare – and enjoy! - much-loved Greek dishes (like moussaka and tzatziki) during a cooking demonstration at a traditional taverna in the village of Agios Ioannis. The final stop is the pretty town of Kato Garounas to see an olive oil museum and carpet weaving display. On the way, seize the photo opportunity at picturesque Pelecas which boasts a show-stopping panorama of the island. Back at the hotel for your afternoon class, where you’ll work on the Fifth chakra, Visshudha, (or throat chakra), which influences clear communication and self-expression.
This morning’s class relates to building abdominal and core strength, critical to the pursuit of both yoga and spinal health. Enjoy an organic lunch at the hotel and then free-time until the afternoon, where the Sixth chakra, Ajna (or Third Eye) takes the spotlight. Relating to the pituitary gland, exercises for this fascinating chakra promote greater mental powers, the attainment of consciousness, and communication with higher levels of existence.
Your final morning of yoga is devoted to calming stretches and restorative routines to equip you with relaxation tools for your regular lifestyle. Lunch is at the hotel. Take the rest of the last day to enjoy as desired. In the afternoon, you’ll address the Seventh chakra, Sahasrara, which corresponds to the pineal gland and relates to our Divine nature and pure essence.
Breakfast at the hotel. Free-day until your departure.
We are certain that Yoga and Corfu will have woven their sacred magic to leave you feeling truly reborn - and already anticipating your next inspirational visit.
