Apollo Culture tour

               Athens/Olympia/ Zakynthos/ Delphi/Itea /Nafpactos /Patras

                                             

1st day:(Monday)arrival: ATHENS /ISTHMOS/LOUTRAKI/ NIFOREIKA

 Picked up and  Leave by the coastal road to the Corinth  were we stop to see the Canal and then drive to Loutraki for a short  visit and a nice walk . Depart for our base for the next four days, Niforeika.

Arrive at the hotel relaxing and then dinner

 

2th Day:(Tuesday.) : OLYMPIA

9-9.30.a.m: departure for   Olympia. A beautiful ride through plains and mountains. Arrival at the Archaeological site at 11am where there will be a Guided tour including Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum.

Lunch in Olympia or drive to a  traditional village in the mountains  and lunch there(TBD)

Return to the hotel.

 

3th day: (Wednesday):ZAKYNTHOS

Day trip to beautiful Zakynthos .Drive to Kyllini (30’-40’min) where we take the boat and in one hour we are on the island.

Drive to some of the islands must see sites   The most famous landmark of the island is the Navagio beach. It is a cove on the southwest (northwest near village of Anafonitiria) shore, isolated by high cliffs and accessible only by boat. The beach and sea floor are made of white pebbles, and surrounded by turquoise waters.. The ridge area from Anafonitria has a small observation deck which overlooks the shipwreck, and there is a monastery nearby. We will also visit the Museum of Natural History and then some more sightseeing and then lunch  in one of the islands traditional spots . Later on we head back

 

4th day(Thursday):DELPHI /ITEA/ NAFPACTOS

Drive on through Achaia until the magnificent bridge which is crossing the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. and Itea, arrive in Delphi. The site of Delphi was believed to be determined by Zeus when he sought to find the centre of Grandmother Earth (or Gaia). He sent two eagles flying from the eastern and western extremities, and the path of the eagles crossed over Delphi where the omphalos, or navel of Gaia was found. Guided tour of the archeological site and the temple. Leave and go to lunch in Ag.Nikolaos by the sea  and then stop in the picturesque towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) for an afternoon walk and sight seeing.

Back to base

 

 5th day:(Friday) : PATRA   

Drive  to Patra the biggest city of Peloponnese and visit  Achaia clauss –the oldest winery in Greece (1861) where we will  do  wine tasting- and then to the remains of the ancient Roman Theater and Odeon .

Then you can have the afternoon free for a nice walk in the center of this beautiful city . (instructions will be given out)

Return to  the hotel

        

6th  day: (Saturday):  ATHENS/ACROPOLIS/GLYFADA

Departure to Athens.  Upon arrival  we  will visit Acropolis where we will see the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon. After that we will drive by the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch. Back to the hotel and free evening for a nice walk at the beautiful suburb of Glyfada by the sea with plenty of restaurants and bars.

 

7th (Sunday) : Free day

Day at the beach / pool or a day in the city center. An early dinner can be arranged.

Also there is option with an additional cost, for a day cruise to the islands of Aegina –Poros –Hydra.(lunch on board included).Requests must be submitted a week before arrival.

Departure to the airport

 

    The tour includes:

              

                  5 nights accommodation in Peloponnese and 1 in Athens
